Using Start Menu or Taskbar Shortcuts in Windows 7 to Launch EnergyCAP Enterprise:

Problem: Opening EnergyCAP by using the program shortcut pinned to the Start Menu or the Taskbar in Windows 7 causes EnergyCAP to crash when using certain modules, such as: Audits, Account Manager, Bill Editor and PowerViews.

Solution: This issue occurs when using a shortcut icon other than the icon placed on your desktop by EnergyCAP during the program installation. Most commonly this occurs with the Start Menu or Taskbar icons. If you look at the properties for the shortcut icons, you will see a Start in location.

The "Start in:" field should not be empty. If the field has no text, then you will need to enter one of the following paths, based on your operating system:

For Windows 7 32 bit the path should be: "C:\Program Files\EnergyCAP Enterprise (or however you have it setup in your Program Files folder)

For Windows 7 64 bit the path should be: "C:\Program Files (x86)\EnergyCAP Enterprise (or however you have it setup in your Program Files folder)

You will need to navigate to the folder on your computer to copy the exact location of this path and paste it into the Start in: field in the Start Menu and/or Taskbar shortcut properties.
