EC Enterprise: Creating a new template--commodity unit not available
Posted by Joel Brickell, Last modified by Joel Brickell on 10 July 2015 12:53 PM

Issue: When creating a new template line for a template for a commodity, (IE, Water) the unit that you wish to use (IE, 10Gal) is not available in the Unit drop-down list.

Solution: If the desired unit is not available, it either does not exist or the unit relationship has not been set up completely.

To set up an existing Unit:

  1. Click Tools/Unit System from the EnergyCAP primary window.
  2. When the Unit System Editor window opens, click the Equivalencies tab and scroll down to the appropriate Commodity.
  3. Highlight the desired Commodity (including it's Class/Unit Type/Default Unit) and click the Properties icon. The Equivalence Properties window will open.
  4. Observe the Units list box, and scroll down the list if necessary to see if the desired commodity unit is is listed. If it is, click to make certain that the checkbox in front of the Unit has a check mark in it.
  5. Click OK to save the changes and return to the Unit System Editor.
  6. Click Close.
  7. Return to the Create Template/Create Line properties window; the located unit should appear in the unit details now.

For additional information, or if the desired Native Unit is NOT available in the Unit System, see the linked topic following for a detailed description of the process for creating a NEW Unit:
