EC PRO: EnergyCAP Professional Reports Fail Due to Database Connection Errors
Posted by Barry Kroeker, Last modified by Joel Brickell on 14 July 2015 04:43 PM
Issue: I can access data in EnergyCAP Professional but when I try to run any report I receive an error concerning Database Connection failure.

Solution: This can occur when Energy CAP databases are attached to SQL Server via SQL Management Studio or Enterprise Manager but not from within EnergyCAP using the SYS option.

You can verify the problem by looking at the database User Properties with your SQL tools. If the Login name is BLANK, you will have this problem. The Login name and User name must both be "ecuser".

If the Login name is blank, execute the following one-line script against your EnergyCAP database:

EXEC sp_change_users_login N'auto_fix', 'ecuser'
GO
EXEC sp_change_users_login N'update_one' N'ecuser', N'ecuser'
GO

After running the script, verify that the Login information is present and correct. Then log into EnergyCAP Professional. You should be able to run reports.

4060 Database Connection Error

A 4060 database connection error usually indicates that the CrystalXI.msi component did not install properly. Re-install EnergyCAP (just the program, not the SQL Express database engine) and be sure that all files install successfully.
