EC Enterprise: New User-Defined Fields Don't Appear
Posted by Barry Kroeker, Last modified by Joel Brickell on 28 May 2015 03:02 PM

Issue: I used the EnergycAP Administrator program to create a new user-defined field. It indicated that the field had been created successfully, but when I go to meter, place, vendor or account properties I don't see the tab for User Fields.

Solution: The SQL Server user account which is used to connect the EnergyCAP application to the EnergyCAP database must have certain database rights to modify a table.

You can run the SQL script below to assign the necessary database rights. This MUST be run from SQL Enterprise Manager or a similar SQL database administration tool. You cannot execute this script from within EnergyCAP or EnergyCAP Administrator, i.e. you need IT assistance (which will take only a minute or two).

NOTE: This example is based on the SQL User account 'esuser'. If you are using NT authentication for ODBC or a different SQL Server account, make sure to use those account names instead of 'esuser'.

/* assign esuser new db privileges for administrative-type roles

EXEC sp_addrolemember 'db_ddladmin', 'esuser'

EXEC sp_addrolemember 'db_securityadmin', 'esuser'

EXEC sp_addrolemember 'db_backupoperator', 'esuser'
