EC Enterprise/Pro: Transferring files to Support FTP with Windows Explorer
Posted by Kurt Kroeker, Last modified by Joel Brickell on 14 July 2015 05:20 PM

Issue: I need to transfer files--documents, spreadsheets, database files, etc.--to my EnergyCAP FTP site so that Tech Support can better understand my issue.

Solution: Use Windows Explorer as an FTP Utility to upload my files. See the instructions below to do so with Internet Explorer 7/8 and previous versions, respectively.

If you're using IE7 or 8, follow these directions:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer

  2. In the URL bar, type in: ftp://www.energycap.com

  3. When the page loads, enter your Username and Password. You will be directed to the FTP directory.

  4. Click the Page option from the menu and select Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer. The Log On As.... window will open.

  5. Enter your Username and Password again. The Explorer FTP window will be displayed.

  6. Transfer files back and forth as if using Explorer on your own PC (drag and drop, copy/paste, etc.)

If you're using an earlier browser version than IE7 or 8, try these directions:

  1. Click Start > Run.

  2. Type in Explorer and click the OK button. The Windows Explorer will open.

  3. Type the following URL into the Address bar: ftp://supportftp.energycap.com. Then press ENTER on your keyboard.

  4. Enter your Username and Password again in the fields provided. The Explorer FTP window will be displayed.

  5. Transfer files back and forth as if using Explorer on your own PC (drag and drop, copy/paste, etc.)
