Issue:  I need to uninstall and reinstall EnergyCAP Professional

Solution:  Below is the link to the download of EnergyCAP Pro 2009 SP1 if you do not have this install file already. So please make sure you have this file and a current back up of your database. If you don't have a current backup, we may be able to pull the database from the SQL server folder after the server has been uninstalled. This will discuss that further in the document.

Once you have verified that you have the install file. You will need to go into the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs, Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs

Now you need to locate and remove/uninstall EnergyCAP Professional. Then you will need to locate and remove/uninstall ALL the SQL Server 2005 components. See below:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Microsoft SQL Server Native Client

Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files

Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer

** Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express** this may or may not be there.

Now it's time to grab your database files from the SQL Server folder if you need them.

Double click on My Computer and go into Local Disk "C". From here you will go into the Program Files > Microsoft SQL Server >MSSQL.1 >MSSQL > Data. You should see your database in this Data folder. Grab the two (2) files for your database, EXAMPLE: ec_DemoData.mdf & ec_DemoData_Log.ldf

Copy these two (2) files to another folder, maybe to the ecapbak folder.  The other location to find your backup file(s) will be where you back your database up to. Example: C:\ecapbak, this is the default location for Pro.

Once this has been done, you will need to delete the Microsoft SQL Server and EnergyCAP Professional folders from under Program Files

Now you are ready to do the install of EnergyCAP Professional and SQL Server Express 2005. Follow the install instructions from here to include attaching your database.
