EC Enterprise: Changes to our Remote Desktop Environments
Posted by Matthew Heinz, Last modified by Joel Brickell on 10 April 2017 09:42 AM

We are making changes to our two Remote Desktop environments to ensure better security for our clients. We now only support Network Level Authentication (NLA).  You can get more details about NLA from this link.

These changes will take effect on Friday, July 1. Follow the steps below to make these changes on your computer.

remote.energycap.com

When using the Remote Desktop Gateway option the connection will be initiated on port 443. The connection on port 3389 only happens between the Remote Desktop Gateway and the Remote Desktop Server. For instance, you will only need to open port 443 on your side to connect if using the Remote Desktop Gateway option.

Set Remote Desktop Gateway

1. Go to the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box and click on the Advanced tab. Click Settings under Connect from anywhere.

2. Choose Use these RD Gateway server settings with the server name of remote.energycap.com

3. Go to the General tab and use remote.energycap.com as the Computer and the User name should be ENERGYCAP\username

4. You may be asked for a password two times. The first time will be from the Remote Desktop Gateway and the second will be from the Remote Desktop Server itself.

remotestaging.energycap.com

The steps will be the same for remotestaging.energycap.com, except for the Server name (in Step #2) and Computer (in Step #3) being remotestaging.energycap.com instead of remote.energycap.com.
